![]() Letter from the PresidentGreetings, my fellow alumni! It is with much anticipation and excitement that I look forward to the next two years as your Alumni Association president. First, I would like to thank my predecessor, Jim Laychak, who was an inspiration to us all this past year. He lost his brother, David, at the Pentagon on September 11. In the wake of his personal tragedy, he became deeply involved in the survivor briefings, cared for his brother's widow and children, kept his career going, and yet had ample time to lead this organization in its most successful year to date. We all owe Jim a debt of gratitude. As I assume the role as leader of this ever-growing Alumni Association, I find there are so many things I wish to accomplish. Yet, the reality is that there is only so much time. Thank goodness we have great news to share to start the year. First, our new online alumni directory is up and running through the web site. Go to www.gmu.edu/alumni and click on the Alumni Directory link. You can then sign up and share your information with fellow alumni. We hope this service will be a huge success. In addition, we have allied with MBNA to provide a George Mason credit card to alumni at a competitive rate. You will receive correspondence that will allow you to join your fellow alumni in proudly displaying your George Mason card. For those of you still paying off student loans, we have contracted with Student Trust to arrange for consolidation of loans at an all-time low interest rate. We encourage you to take advantage of this offer. As you can see, we continue to strive to improve our service to you. You are, after all, the reason we exist. We hope that more of you will get involved as we grow. Please check our web site at www.gmu.edu/alumni and our mailings for upcoming events. We continually add new, exciting forums for networking, socializing, and just getting to know each other as Mason enjoys a status and reputation that instills pride in us all. The Alumni Affairs staff and your Alumni Association board are committed to continuing this tradition of excellence. Please join us. Brian Drummond |
